Why the US Can't Win in Afghanistan

After so many years of the US military being in Afghanistan, we are hearing that it turning into a quagmire. That is not surprising. If we look at Afghanistan after the Soviets pulled out we will notice that the country reverted back to tribal rule with at least five separate leaders ruling sections of the country. Afghanistan is a tribal nation. The people are proud of their country and of their languages, of which there are several.

If the US stays in Afghanistan things will continue as they are, chaotic and impossible to rule. If the US pulls out, the Taliban will try and take over and if they don't succeed, the tribal chieftains will try and recapture their territories and rule once again.

Time to rethink our policies on Afghanistan for the good of the people there, the US military there, and for the good of the US overall.
