America is already Socialist

Fear seems to be rampant in people's minds as they worry about the government "taking over" the health care system. As usual it is a mixture of ignorance, headline getting, stupidity and lack of knowledge that is fueling this epidemic of fear.

Let's look at the facts. America is already using Socialism to meet its needs. Points to note:
  1. The Military. Socialist.
  2. The Fire Stations. Socialist.
  3. Education. Socialist.
  4. Medicare, Medicaid. Socialist.
  5. Policing. Socialist.
  6. Too many other programs to mention.
What we as a nation need to realize is that there is a good side to Socialism. We are trying to implement that good side every day in our nation. If the military, education, medicare, policing, and other programs were not socialized how would we function as a nation? Not very well.
Most of us accept this level of socialism without questioning it. It works, therefore it is ok. Our fear of the government being involved in health care is ridiculous. Do we really think that the US has a great health care system? We are 37th in the world as regards quality of health care. Hundreds of thousands of people die or are injured in hospitals every year in the US due to negligence and errors.
Thousands of people die or remain sick due to lack of health care. They can't afford the premiums therefore they don't go to the doctor.

I have a great health insurance plan through my work. My plan says it pays 100% of cleanings at the dentist once a year. Yet, every time I go I end up paying between $60 and $100 because my health care provider doesn't cover this particular x-ray or that particular cleaning agent. My health care plan says it pays 90% of my annual check-ups yet each time I go I end up paying over $200 because my health care provider doesn't cover this particular blood test or that particular swab or God only knows what else. Unfortunately you don't find this out until after you have had the annual physical and then you start getting the bills. What a joke?

In most Western nations that have nationalized health care, people don't pay for hospital stays or annual check-ups or dentist bills. My brother had triple-bypass surgery and spent three weeks in hospital in Ireland. His total bill, $140.00. That is real health care.

Let's get the wax out of ears and start thinking like a 21st century nation and realize we have to take care of our people. Otherwise we are worse than failures, we are people who neglect the most needy in their society. That would be a shame.
