My suggestion is that every worker pay 1% of their salary, regardless of what it is, to a universal health care plan. That small amount from every worker in the US is more than enough to pay for universal health care. That way any person in the US can avail themselves of the public option. Will there be people who don't pay anything? Of course. There will always be poor and health affected people who do not work or can't get jobs. That is why we help each other. It might be my turn next year. By helping each other we all benefit. Isn't that what we are supposed to do any way.

How to Pay for Universal Health Care
In order for universal health care to work in the US it has to be simple, fair and easy to manage. It needs to be available to every single man, woman and child whether they ever use it or not. People might be able to afford to pay for private health insurance now but what about next year or two years from now? What if they lose their jobs and their health benefits? Then they will be interested in an easier and cheaper health care.
