Why are people so ignorant about Universal Health Care?

The more I read about people's opinions and understanding about Health Care the more baffled I am. We have a large segment of the population who actually believe we are on the road to Communism and Stalin is going to be resurrected to lead the US as our leader. Mind boggling to say the least.

If the US has the best health care system in the world why are we always ranked 37th or 38th in the world as regards quality of care? Why do so many thousands of people die in US hospitals each year due to negligence? If Europe is so bad why is their standard of living higher than ours in the US?

All Universal Health Care means is that everyone pays in to it through a payroll tax, and everyone gets to benefit from it when they need it through free health care. But, and here is the kicker, it also allows you to have Private Health Insurance so you can go to any hospital in your private health care plan. The same would be true here in the US. Hospitals will not close, doctors will not go out of business. They will make more money than before as people will have the option of both Universal Health Care and Private Health Care. It accomodates everyone. Isn't that what we really want? Everyone, regardless of income, to be covered by health care? It is not as hard as it sounds but unfortunately it will never happen here in the US. Too much ignorance abounds and people will always go off the rails without knowing all the information. That is a pity because there are millions of people in the US who could really benefit from the Universal Health Care system
