Can we have too much freedom?

With all the talk about WikiLeaks and freedom of information it is time to ask ourselves the question, Can we have too much freedom?  Does too much freedom lead to to lack of security, lack of confidence in our freedom, and lack of ability to grow as a society? Every parent knows that you don't tell your children everything that is going on because you want to protect them. Too much information causes fear and misunderstanding of the facts.

The more we know about events in the world and in our own country it seems to more insecure we become. We learn that our government doesn't know everything; is not fully able to protect us from terrorist attacks, and from time to time is incompetent. Does that help us feel more secure and have a better standard of living? There is a reason for secrecy. It is to protect the well-being of the people. A nation that divulges all its secrets, as we love to do, is opening itself up to dangers from outside who will use that information to attack the very freedom we are trying to fight for with the release of information.

Time to think about can we have too much freedom.
