The Five Traits of a Great Leader

Do you aspire to be a great leader? Do you want your name to go down in history as a great man or woman? Then learn and apply these five great traits to your life and character and everyone will respect you, well, maybe some people at least.

1. Encourager. A great leader is foremost a great encourager. They know how to to lift people's spirits to help them do great things. Praise in public and correct in private. Look for the good that people do and encourage that.
2. Evaluator.  A great leader knows how to evaluate a situation and make the best possible decision based on the information at hand. You must learn to look at the whole picture and evaluate from there. People look to you for inspirational leadership and being an evaluator helps in that regard.
3. Enthusiastic.  A great leader is enthusiastic about the work at hand. He or she has a passion for the work that flows down to the people who are being led. If you as a leader are not enthusiastic how can you expect those you lead to be enthusiastic?
4. Exemplary.  A great leader leads by example. It is said of Alexander the Great that he never asked his men to do something he was not willing to do himself and thus they were willing to die for him.
5. Extraordinary. This is not as difficult as it sounds because you don't have to do much out of the ordinary to be considered extraordinary. You want to be a great leader? Learn to do extra ordinary things so you will become an extraordinary person.
