Why Egypt's troubles should scare us.

While many are rejoicing at the riots in Egypt as it may bring about more democracy we also need to keep in mind that the alternatives may be scary. There are many small groups, some fanatical, in Egypt who would love to take power. Like we saw in Iraq when a strong leadership is overthrown the potential for chaos is great.
Egypt has had over thirty years rule by Mubarak and generally it has been a peaceful time. Of course there has been strong-arm tactics used on many groups there but the population as a whole have led peaceful lives. That could change if an unstable government comes to the fore. Like we saw in Iraq persecution of minorities by fanatical groups has led to the bombing of churches and the murder of innocent civilians. The potential for an increase of the same in Egypt exists and we need to pray and hope for the best so that all the people of Egypt can lead peaceful lives no matter who is in power.
