Success Lessons from Wayne Gretzky

To most NHL fans around the world the name Wayne Gretzky is always linked to quality and excellence.

Wayne once said, "I miss every shot I don't take."  I want to look at that phrase and see what lessons on success we can learn from Wayne.

  • Focus. First of all you have to know what you are aiming for or can't shoot at it. Wayne shows us that we must focus our attention on our goal.
  • Be prepared. Before you take your shot you have to have the puck lined up and the goal in sight. So being prepared in life and business is the same. You must be equipped with the right tools and knowledge so you can reach your goal.
  • Shoot. Once you are prepared you must be brave enough to take a shot at reaching your goal. This may mean going out on a limb or taking a risk, but it is the risk takers in life who usually reap the greatest rewards.
  • So whatever you are trying to achieve in life make sure you focus, are prepared and willing to take a shot at it. You will always be more fulfilled and rewarded as a person. Just ask Wayne.
